2/24/15

Students attended the Awards Assembly, therefore classes were  shortened.  Students presented their projects, but we did not have time for science.  The quiz is once  again pushed back.  My thoughts are review tomorrow and Thursday, quiz Friday.  The  social studies test will be   pushed  back until next week.

Tomorrow is absolutely the last day I will accept the science poster.

Monday, February 23, 2015

Students presented their research projects.  This will continue all week.  I am not giving a  science quiz tomorrow because we did  not have adequate time to review.  The quiz will be on Wednesday or Thursday. Tomorrow is the last day I will accept the category poster with a grade no better   than a C.  It was due on Friday.

2/18/15

Students must finish the category poster on how plates move and the results of these forces for homework if they did not complete the assignment in class.  This is due tomorrow.

Important-if school is cancelled due to weather we will not have a social studies test on Friday.  Also, if class sizes are down due to weather we will not have a test on Friday.  Instead students will be given Friday to work on their research presentations.  If  all goes well, review for test on   Thursday, test Friday.

2/17/15-2/18/15

This week in science we are reviewing the ways in which plates move and the theories behind why they move.  Today students began  their review by reading and discussing  the textbook.  Next, they created a diagram labeling the three categories in which plates  move.  Tomorrow we will take it one step further by explaining the results these forces cause on Earth using the correct scientific vocabulary.  If students do not complete this assignment in class it  will be completed  as homework.  They will check out a  science workbook in order to complete  the assignment.

Remember research presentations  begin next week!  Don't procrastinate.

Week of 2/10/15 - 1/13/15

We will not have  science this week.  Science  tests were returned today.

In Social Studies this week we will continue our study of Ancient Greece.   I will not give any additional work for homework.  All activities will be  completed in class.  The time at home should be spent completing and preparing for the research presentation.  Students will be given tomorrow's class time to work on their research project.

Week of 2/2/15-2/6/15

Students reviewed the layers of the Earth creating a graphic organizer in their notebook.  Tomorrow we will finish our review and  students will take a test on Thursday.  They may check out a workbook if the wish to reread the section on Earth's Layers. Extra credit models of Earth's layers will be due on or before Thursday.

I will give students the rubric for their research projects tomorrow.  Thursday and possible Friday will be given to students to work on their research projects.  Clear it with your parent if you plan to work with a partner or in a small group.  Project presentations begin February 23rd.  Dates were assigned  last week.  A speaking  grade will also be given based  on the presentation.

No additional homework will be given this week.
